Do you think you might have fleas? Signs of a flea infestation include pets that won’t stop frantically scratching and biting their fur, little itchy bites on your feet and ankles after walking through your yard or sitting inside your home, as well as actually spotting tiny reddish brown fleas hopping around your carpet or furniture. Have you noticed any of these signs? If so, you need to give us a call! At Rottler, we offer flea control as well as general pest control in St. Louis and we’d be happy to set up an initial inspection and treatment to get rid of the pests that are bothering you! Before we arrive, there are a few things you can do to help reduce fleas inside your home:
Give your pets a bath. You may use an over the counter flea bath, although some people recommend the use of Dawn dish liquid; either way, bathing your pet can help drown any fleas on their bodies. Make sure you wash and rinse them very well!
Administer a flea treatment from your veterinarian on both cats and dogs. This can help kill fleas (and their eggs) that remain on your pet as well as deter more fleas from infesting your pet.
Vacuum your home thoroughly. Pay special attention to carpets, upholstered furniture and areas where pets spend the most time. Make sure to empty the vacuum bag into an outside garbage can after vacuuming to remove any fleas you may have vacuumed up.
Wash pet bedding and any other blankets where pets may spend a good part of their day (including your bedding!).
At Rottler, we know how to get rid of fleas. At your first appointment, our experienced technician will come to your home and inspect both inside and out. They will determine the location of any infestations and offer treatment solutions to completely get rid of the problem. They can also offer recommendations to help ensure a flea infestation doesn’t happen again.
