Lawn Care
Q: What does Aeration do for my lawn?
A: Aeration helps to prevent thatch buildup, promoting germination
of new seed. It also helps provide oxygen to the root system,
decompresses the soil, and provides an avenue for nutrient transfer.
Q: Why is my neighbor’s lawn greener than mine?
A: There can be many factors governing how green your lawn is. These
factors can range from something as simple as your watering and
mowing habits to the different nutrients in the soil which we, at
Rottler, can replenish.
Q: What should my watering/mowing habits be?
A: You should water 3 times per week between 1 to 2 inches per zone.
During the hotter months, water in the morning. This will help
prevent fungus. The mower should be set at 3 inches. You can lower
it to 2- 2 ½ inches during the cooler months.
Termite and Pest Control
Q: Why won’t one treatment solve my insect problem?
A: Our homes are constantly under attack from many different pests
throughout the year. You can choose to control your pest problem for
a period of 60 days (one treatment) or yearly (regular program). By
choosing one of our pest control programs, you are creating a
“treated zone” around your home; this ensures the absence of bugs
from inside your home. Since we are encroaching on their territory,
they are constantly trying to invade our homes and reclaim their
territory. Creating and maintaining a treated zone around your home
makes you the victor of this constant battle for territory.
Q: Will the technician have to apply these materials in my home
on each service?
A: In most cases, when customers call us for pest control service,
pests have been observed in the home. Initially, we treat the
interior, in conducive and active areas, along with our exterior
service. Once we have controlled the interior population, a
regularly scheduled exterior service is recommended in order to
maintain a treated zone which helps keep the pests outside, not in.
Of course, upon request, future interior services are available at
no extra charge.
Q: Why do you have to put stations around my home for termite
control? Isn’t injecting the liquid termiticide protection enough?
A: The stations we use are an added protection. By placing them
strategically around your home and monitoring them regularly, we can
detect and eliminate the termites before they reach your home. They
can also be an early detection for attacks from other termite
colonies looking for a new home.
Q: I’ve seen winged insects in my home. Do I have termites?
A: There are millions of winged insects out there. We offer a
no-cost inspection of your home to identify any potential
problematic pests. Please do not hesitate to contact us for the free
inspection/identification.
Q: Does your company provide any services other than termite and
pest control?
A: Since opening our operations in 1956, we have really diversified.
We provide lawn care – Pest control – bird control – commercial
pest control – specialized fly and mosquito control – even Christmas
decorating. If you are in need of a service and are wondering if
Rottler Pest Control provides it, give us a call. You may be
pleasantly surprised!
Pest Control
Q: What does a brown recluse look like?
A: The brown recluse spider is usually a light brown color with a
dark brown violin-shaped marking on its back. Call us for a free
inspection, we will be happy to identify these pests and offer
treatment solutions.
Q: What can you do for snakes?
A: We can apply a repellent product around the exterior of the
house. This product interferes with the snake’s sensing organ and
repels them away from the house.
Q: What time will you be over to my house for my service?
A: We have a convenient “call-ahead” service which will notify you
prior to service. We try to narrow down service times to a 2-hour
window, which will allow you to carry on with your daily routine.
Q: Why should I go on a program for pest control?
A: Our preventive approach keep pests out of your home year-round.
Though you may not see them, insects are putting pressure on
entering your home in all seasons.
Q: Why don’t we do interior pest control every time?
A: Being on a pest control program to provide year-round protection
should eliminate the need to treat the interior on each visit. After
the initial interior treatment, exterior treatments are regularly
scheduled to maintain a treated zone around your home, thereby
attacking the pests before they can get inside.
Q: What is the difference between a flying ant and a termite
swarmer?
A: The body of an ant will have a thin waist where the waist of a
termite swarmer is thicker. Ants also have a small bend in their
antennae and a termite’s antennae are straight and beady. An ant has
two sets of wings, 1 smaller than the other. A termite’s 2 sets of
wings are of equal length.
Q: Why do we need more frequent services if I have Brown Recluse
spiders?
A: Brown Recluse, or fiddlebacked, spiders typically live in
undisturbed areas including wall voids, crawl spaces, and in
attics. Because they keep to such out-of-the-way places, their
population can grow to large numbers before they are spotted in your
living area. We take the Brown Recluse very seriously and it can
take several months before they can be totally eliminated.
Christmas Decor
Q: Why should I install my lights early?
A: The St. Louis area is notorious for its rapid and severe weather
changes. Scheduling now, while the weather is still relatively mild,
ensures you have your decorations up by the time you want them. We
offer a discount to those who install their roof lights prior to
November 1. Garlands, wreaths and ground lighting (daytime décor)
will not be installed until a later date. Of course, there will be
no additional charge for the daytime décor installation.
Q: What do you have in the way of new décor this year?
A: Christmas décor is always adding new and unique things. We would
be happy to meet with you to show what we have to offer this season.
Q: How does your pricing work?
A: Pricing is based on the type of décor you choose to purchase and
the amount of lighting needed. Your cost will be substantially
lower after the initial year, since you then own the lighting. If
you wish to purchase some of the new items offered in the following
years, then you pay only for the new items, and the installation
charges.
Q: How do you warranty your service?
A: New décor is warranted for the first season. Equipment failures,
not caused by severe weather, vandalism or Pest, will be
repaired or replaced within one day of your notifying us of the
failure.
Q: What about taking them down and storing them?
A: There are several options. We can take them down and store them
for you; we can take them down and give them to you to store; or you
can choose to take them down yourself. This décor is now your
property, and it is your choice what you want done with it. |
