People have trusted the keen nose of dogs for years. They have been used by military and law enforcement agencies to sniff out bombs, drugs and even people and they are now the latest technology in the war against bed bugs. Bed bug dogs are trained the same way as other scent detection dogs, only they detect the sweet smell of these nocturnal insects. Rottler Pest & Lawn Solutions has been providing St. Louis, St. Charles and all of Mid-Missouri effective pest control since 1956 and we now employ some of the best Canine Bed Bug Scent Detection teams in the industry and we’d like to introduce them to you.
Meet Dan LaRue and Fern, our shepherd mix
Dan proudly served as a St. Louis County police officer for 10 years, 8 of which were as a police canine handler, where he specialized in narcotic, patrol and explosives detection dogs. He handled several tactical deployment canines and later served as the K-9 unit training coordinator. Dan conducted training for 15 K-9 unit programs in the St. Louis metro area and later left to train K-9s at Kraftwerk K-9. Here he trained law enforcement and personal protection dogs as well as oversaw the company’s breeding program. Dan was honored by the United States Police Canine Association and German Shepherd Dog Club for outstanding K-9 team of the year for 3 years.
